How long is too long to pick back up a game?

To start off, I picked up The Wither 3 GOTY Edition during the Steam Summer sale. I got about 6-7 hours into it, and then got very distracted with PUBG and Rust and didn't play The Witcher 3 for probably a good 3-4 months or so. I am now looking forward to picking it back up again. My question is: how long is too long to pick back up a game? Should I pick back up where I left off or restart the game? Thanks for your input.

I restarted from a previous game at about 25 hours and took off about 4 months and TBH I'm probably going to wait another month of so (wintertime) before I go back into it and fully go through the game. This way I can fully enjoy the story and relearn the controls.

Personally I hate having more then like 4-5 games downloaded on my system as it almost feels overwhelming lol.

As long as you pretty much remember the controls and storyline it should be fairly easy to get back into and continue your game. If you forgot the story/controls then I would probably restart to get a good refresh of both.

I restarted it when I got back into as I enjoyed the story and wanted to make some different decisions that affected some gameplay.

I remember the majority of the controls and the storyline for the most part, but I could probably still use a refresher. When you restarted your game, how far into it had you gotten and how long was the break?
