Less ram recommended to play game

Hello!

I had a question. I have 8 GB of ram and went to check the recommended system requirements for the new Call of Duty World War 2, and on the site it says that 12 GB of ram is recommended. Does not having the extra 4 GB of ram make a difference? And what would be the benefits of upgrading to like 16 GB of ram?

Thanks!

Performance mostly depends on the CPU/GPU of the system. By having a low amount of RAM, you could run into potential stuttering issues on high settings especially while multi tasking (chrome open in the background, streaming, etc).

16gb is considered the recommended amount because you're probably not going to use all 16gb of RAM, thus avoiding the stuttering issues that come with having low amounts of RAM. You will still be able to run the game, they're just saying that for the smoothest possible performance they recommend 12.

EDIT: I have 8gb of RAM and I haven't had any stuttering issues due to RAM usage, although I have gotten into the 90% usage range. Since you already have 8gb, it's probably not worth upgrading RAM until the prices are at a somewhat reasonable point.

So, if I was going to upgrade to 16 GB of ram, what would you get? Also, I am assuming that the type of motherboard you have will decide on what sticks of ram you can install, this is currently mine MSI H110M PRO-D (MS-7996).

Thanks for the response.!

Upgrading to 16gb of RAM only assures that you won't run into any stuttering because you don't have enough RAM. In theory, and likely in practice, 8gb will be fine for COD WW2. You won't see an increase in FPS by getting more RAM, you're just less likely to stutter.

As for what RAM you should get, basically any non-ECC DDR4 RAM will work with that build. Intel isn't nearly as picky as Ryzen for memory support, and pretty much all RAM is made to support the Intel platform.
