im trying to upgrade my processor from an intel Pentium to an i5 7400t (already bought). When I put the new processor in, I got a reboot loop. When I switched back to my Pentium processor, it booted up with no problem. I was wondering should I just return the processor or update the motherboard. The Motherboard supports this type of processor and the brand is a Gigabyte GA-H110M-A 1151 Chipset.

Are you able to reach your bios screen? If so it can be the OS not supporting the new CPU. You may have to do a fresh install. If not is the chipset compatible with your new CPU. Can you tell me the model of the Pentium processor?

You realize that you can check compatibility on Gigabyte's site? All manufacturers provide that info (supported CPUs and required BIOS revision). If the system won't POST, then it obviously can't be an OS issue.
