I am getting the Sennheiser Game Zero headset, and was wondering what would be a good $80 or below sound card to pair with it, if at all needed. I have a MSI Z1704 Gaming M5 for a motherboard.

It would be nice to have virtual 7.1 surround sound in some way if possible.

You won't need the sound card. You don't need sound cards anyways these days. Even my old Asus Sabertooth P67 has 7.1 audio.
Audio

• Realtek® ALC1150 Codec
- 7.1-Channel High Definition Audio
- Supports S/PDIF output

That is from the MSI website

Spoken like someone who's never used a dedicated sound card :p

Granted integrated audio on motherboards has vastly improved over the years and you now get some pretty competent sound out of them, but you're missing out on features like Dolby Digital Live, DTS, and EAX and yes, those definitely make a big difference especially when it comes to games.

As for a dedicated sound card, the Sound Blaster Z is $100 on Newegg and $92 on Amazon and I've seen it go on sale sometimes for $79.99. I wouldn't buy anything lower than that though as is won't be enough of an upgrade over your integrated to justify.
