Hello and thank you for reading. I'm looking for some help.
Wireless router: Nighthawk X6 (4 ports)
Switch: TP link TL-SG1016DE (16 ports)
NOW. I am not an expert at this.
My house is wired with an ethernet socket in each room, Cat 7 cables go back to the utility room where the above hardware is located.
When i connect the computer directly to the Nighthawk, it works perfectly. This includes by wifi, plugging the computer directly into the nighthawk with a short ethernet cable, and also plugging one of the cat 7 cables into the nighthawk and connecting my computer directly to the ethernet port in any room.
The problem arises when the switch is introduced.
SOME of the rooms work perfectly via the switch, but the large majority do not.
There must be something I am missing here or some element of setup that I am not aware of? The switch is called an "Easy Smart Switch" - it doesn't feel very easy and I don't feel very smart!
Is there likely to be some setting on the nighthawk that I need to calibrate in order for it to allow the switch to work properly?
Any advice would be appreciated.
