So I'm a greenhorn at computer stuff, but I have Seasonic M12II-620 Evo and I want to put a Radeon Rx 460 2gb gpu to my rig but the cable I got for connecting has a 6-8 pcie on one end and a Type 4 8 pin on the other end. The Seasonic only has pcie connections, so I am wondering if the Type 4 end will work cause I need the other end for the gpu. I did try it, and the computer did recognize it and the fan was running, though the card was heating up.

Solution
Don't use the adapter cable that came with the card. That is only for PSUs not wired correctly for the card; old PSUs or ones that are technically too small. You only need to get the PCIe power cable from the PSU box and plug it into the PSU, then plug the other end into the gfx card.

What is this "Type 4 8 pin"cable you're talking about?

The Seasonic PSU should have all the cables you need to connect the gfx card. Are you saying you obtained a different cable to use?
All you need is the 6+2 pin PCIe cable from the PSU. One of these denoted as cable (4). (Go to the 'cables' tab if the link goes to the home page)

The cable came with the gpu, not with the rig cause it was using a different set up and a different gpu. Since the gpu was getting power to the fan, I'm gonna see if it is just this gpu and not the other one I got
