Would a WD blue drive be good in terms of longevity purposes (in terms of the drive working as it should without failing) for bulk file storage.

Asking for a friend (4tb drive)
Or would a red be better?

Solution
If you're using a stand alone drive, a green or blue is fine. If you're using an array of drives, you'll need a red, which are specifically designed to operate in a NAS system or RAID configuration.
