What kind of performance can I expect out of a GTX 770?

Hey there,

I built my pc about 6 months ago with a 7600k and a GTX 1060 6GB. I've found myself leaning much further towards video and 3d work over gaming, and have decided to sell a few of my components and purchase ryzen's 1700 CPU. As a result, I am planing on downgrading my gpu. Currently, in turn for my 1060, someone is offering me $120 cash along with their GTX 770 2GB that is in good condition. What kind of general performance can I expect out of this setup? Just for reference, I have 16gb or RAM and 2 SSD's.

A good deal. The performance difference between a 970 and a 1060 will be very close. In theory the 970 is 8-10% slower, but on a practical level they will give the same performance on a 60hz monitor.

Depends on what you are doing with it. Roughly on par with a GTX1050Ti, which is quite a drop down from the 1060 6GB, but much older, so less features and technology. GTX770 is basically a re-branding of the GTX680 with faster memory. So you are dropping back quite a ways.

Personally I would keep it and eat the cost. $120 cash and the GPU isn't really enough to cover the price of a GTX1060.

I imagine you would only regret it in the near future when you need some feature that the 770 is too old for.

Thanks for the reply! I agree it wasn't worth it, I instead agreed to an offer that traded a fairly new GTX 970 with 50 cash for my 1060. Seems more reasonable to me, and gives me room to purchase my new setup.
