I have a x99A Gaming 7 MSI motherboard for my cpu currently. My socket is the 2011-3v or 2011 type. I have the Intel Core i7 6850K CPU 6cores/12threads. I tried to overclock it but for some reason its reaching temps of like 92c when i am overclocking it. Maybe my cpu cooler isnt good enough. I have a Hydro Series™ H100i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler. Is that not good enough or what could i use or maybe a different cpu. I want to overclock it or get a faster and better cpu for more frames. I have 2x 1070 8gb gpus. 32 gb ram at 3000mhz. couple SSDs. Isnt the cpu i have good ? Just need some help to maybe get 2x faster performance and more frames in games. Also when i live stream I need the best. My internet is good sitting at 14.0 upload mbps.

Would you recommend a new cpu cooler?

First, it's quite hard to help you if you don't tell what are you planning to play and how you're playing it (resolution, 60, 120, 144fps? and which quality).

6c/12t CPU with 2 1070 should be enough to play and stream any games at 1080p (nowadays 4c/8t is enough for gaming only), aren't you getting the amout of frames you desire?

if your CPU is hitting 92c than it's possible that it's downclocking itself, and with that reducing your FPS. You should download MSI afterburner and see if at this temp the CPU downclocks, 92c is a pretty high temp for a CPU.

What most people seek today is ultra settings at 60fps+ on 1080p, and I think your PC should do it easily, even streaming.

Okay, I dont have it overclocked atm I was saying when i did overclock it to a 4.0 or 4.1 it was hitting 92c, I have the stock sitting at 3.6 Some people are saying that the cpu cooler i have rn is not that good compared to higher up ones. I play rainbow six siege mainly. Waiting for Destiny 2 for pc. I really wanna focus more with maybe overclocking my cpu ? I really wanna gain more frames so I dont have frame drop when i play because of streaming. I have my textures tweaked rn on siege. Its texture quality is very high with everything low because of seeing people and stuff the way to be "better" i guess. But it only really hits me when I stream. Sometimes my fps spikes a lot. Could it be that my obs settings or too high ?

Would that 8700K be better than the current cpu i have now. If i was to purchase that right now i would see improvements ?

Overclocking definitely will give you a little bit more frames, but it won't have effect at high temps like this, actually 92c is a dangerous temperature. And just repeating what vapour said, if you want to have the most smooth experience streaming the Ryzen 1700+ or coffee lake I7 is the best option
