Weird display issue that resolved itself, am wondering if this is a sign of my gpu failing

This morning my display was flickering, mirroring the image of my background about halfway down the screen. So I restarted the computer and then my display was all blank aside from green vertical lines. I could log in and see some of my wall paper but most of the screen was blank.

Restarted, turned off the power supply, make sure the cords (I use a display port to hdmi and run in 4k) were all in correctly and not damaged. The same thing happened several times.

I tried again a half hour later but this time I went into my bios. I didnt change anything, just wanted to check it see if it was my gpu or my display.
The bios displayed normally, I booted up windows again, but this time everything was fine.

I assume everything isnt fine though, is my gpu failing? Should I send it back to nvidia?
Really bad timing I just moved to a new city and need my computer for everything, but if this issue can become a major one I'd like to deal with it asap.

I run a gtx 1080 founders and an i7-4790k

any feedback would be appreciated

Not a lot to go on if it's a video card issue or just a glitch, too much heat or a power supply issue. Run a few tests on the systems with benchmarks, see if the card has image issues during the tests, monitor temps with HWMonitor and see how hot things get. If anything is overclocked set everything to stock speeds.

What is the power supply brand and model?
