8700K estimated/projected availability when?

I'm aware of the release and I'm sure they're sold out everywhere (or maybe it's not even on sale yet) which is a typical scenario for flagship type releases of highly anticipated products. Though I'm not really in a rush to get one of these chips, I was just wondering from your experience of Intel's past launches..

How many months from the launch date did the processors start becoming regular "In Stock" and at a standard retail price?

I'm kind of interested in updating my 6700k & Z170 Mobo. I skipped Kaby because of the "thermal issues" some people were experiencing and the minimal IPC improvements.

Sky, kaby and coffee are all the same architecture and do not have an ipc increase. They're refreshes. There's never a reason to upgrade to even 1-2 gens, tick or tock in the past, for gaming. Unless you are using it for something else which needs higher single threaded performance but even then it's minimal. You'd spend $380 for 200mhz in ocing. Improvements are in the speeds and power usage plus coffee adds more cores.

This isn't typical as they did release the cpu with less available stock than other releases. You may get lucky and be able to snag one when they restock. Maybe we'd see it in stock more often in a month. Some say it'll keep being short into 2018.

Previous launches, at least for the past few generations from Intel, were not rushed. It seems in the case of Coffee Lake that Intel pushed this out more hastily than they wanted to due to Ryzen's release.

Therefore, I think it's going to be very difficult to answer your question - as past releases weren't made under these circumstances.
