When do you need to replace a Motherboard

Solution
Only required to replace your motherboard if either the motherboard is defective or broken, or when you need to upgrade to a CPU that's incompatible with that motherboard. If you're fine with your current motherboard/CPU then there's no reason to change it unless you're having issues with it.

* CPU is not good enough for new games

* Motherboard is broken

* You don't have enough ram slots (Trying to come up with reasons)

* Not enough PCIe slots

* Doesn't not support sli

* Don't have the I/O you want

Theres lots of reasons but your motherboard is fine right now no reason to change it, unless you want coffee lake (Scoket: Z370) which isn't really a big deal for me, I'd stay with your mobo for a few more years.

Really its required to upgrade when all the CPUs for your socket are outdated and crap, like I myself just upgraded from a FM1 Motherboard (Don't make fun of me I'm not that rich) to an am3+ motherboard with a fx 6300, which is decent and would last for a few more years. FM1 is really outdated. But your socket LGA 1511 is pretty new and still very good for gaming.

Z170 motherboards can support Kaby Lake chips (7700k) as long as you update the BIOS. Just update to your latest BIOS version and you should be able to use Kaby Lake chips in your board.
