Looking at Upgrading my CPU

I am currently running the following:
GA990FX-UD3
FX 8350
24gb (3x8gb) Gskill Ripjawz (2133) DDR3
MSI Radeon RX480 Gaming 8gb

i know it doesn't get much better on the AM3+ chipset so i'm entertaining the idea of upping to AM4 or beginning to explore the options that intel has to offer. been a long time AMD user but the AM3 chipset is starting to lack for me. i would like to push closer to 50-60 fps at max settings in 4k on my AAA titles (RE7, BF1, Forza 7/ Horizon 3, and the upcoming Evil Within 2) while maintaining my ability to utilize Autocad (2018) without stuttering and other similar issues when rendering 3D models.
I am aware that any change whether to AM4 or an intel chipset will require a change of my MOBO and subsequently the type of ram to be utilized.

All feedback and information is greatly appreciated.

i was looking at x350 mobos and the r7 1700 with 32 gigs. the price point is just out of reach for what i wanna spend though. but i also would like to remain somewhat future-proof in the long run with my selection.

Admirable
While a CPU upgrade will definitely improve your performance in CPU bound games compared to your current CPU, i'm afraid you'll never reach steady 60 fps @4k and High settings with just a RX480 alone...

For such high res, you'll need a GTX 1080 at least...

With that said, try to follow the build and advice above about getting 16GB of RAM, it will be very worthy in the long therm.

I have already had success in running RE7 at 4k with high settings at around 35-40 fps steady. but i think that the 8350 is dragging down my rx480.

i am also a drafting student and spend much of my time constructing 2d, wireframe, and 3d solid models. so i also want to make sure that i will be more than effective in that endeavor.

also do you think that running a second RX480 in SLI might aid in reaching my goal?

8700k is the best atm, but most expensive. You may wait for Zen2 if you can.
