Using Aux carrying both mic and speaker connections in pc green audio port

Hello, so i got a headset that's connected via an aux cable with the mic attached to the aux cable (like ear buds) and when i connect it to the green audio port the mic doesn't work, any solution other than buying a spliter?, like config changing maybe?

adapter only, not something software can fix. the plug is missing a contact. the adapter will restore that contact via the pink mic port.
