So my system keeps crashing while playing Shadow of War and Fifa 18. Such crashes started recently. I can play for varying lengths of time before either the game crashes, system crashes, or I get the blue windows screen. I tried changing the Nvidia drivers. I used drivers 387.92(Released with Shadow of war optimization), 385.47, and 385.69(released with FIFA 18 optimization). With 387.92 and 385.69, the system crashed and I got the blue windows screen on a few occasions. With 385.47 I get the most stability, but the games still crash. I tried playing older games, like FIFA 17, and faced the same crashes. On running Uniengine Heaven the for an hour, the system did not crash. Temperatures for the CPU and GPU remained under 57 and 75 degrees respectively. Can someone help me identify the problem?

Solution
Try running with one stick of RAM at a time, test the video card in another system with a known good power supply, test another card in your system with the same power use as your 970. A clean Windows setup will help rule out any software issues.

I agree with hang-the-9. It'll reseat your ram, too.
Also reseat your hardware to make sure it's got solid contact, plug 'n all. Check your power connections and inputs.
Games will sometimes remember crashes. Yeah, this one is weird. Reset the game or set the game to 'Default Settings'.
Update your hardware drivers, do a clean uninstall/install of your video driver and games.
Defrag and Error Check in C: drive
Hope this helps.
