Overclocking RAM to CPU relation

I have learnt that to overclock my RAM, I choose the XMP profile i want in the bios. I would like to ask by doing this, will there any adjustments automatically made to CPU? Or I have to manually make the adjustments on CPU to suit the RAM.

Let's say I will want to overclock to 3000mhz as the bios for 3200mhz have not released.

CPU: i5 8600k
Mobo: MSI Z370 Gaming plus
RAM: Corsair 3200mhz 2x8gb

There is one common thing that ties CPU and RAM, that's IMC (Internal(Integrated) Memory Controller) that's built in modern CPUs. IMC also gets overclocked when you OC memory so OCing CPU together with RAM gives better overall results.

Meaning to say without touch the cpu, I do a test to see if whether the system will crash on 3000mhz.

If the system is fine, then I proceed on to adjusting the CPU clock speed to a point where it start to crash. Which also means that I have hit the max clock speed at this ram speed?
