gtx 1080 or 1080 ti?

Hi people!

Im going to get a new gpu, and im between this two monsters but for now, i play on 1080p@60hz monitor. At least until next year, when i can get a 2k monitor or 1080p@144.

What will be the best option?

My rig:

Intel Core I7 7700k (running stock 4.2)
Corsair Vengeance Led DDR4 3000mhz 2x8GB
PSU: Seasonic M12II-750 EVO.
Motherboard: MSI Z270 Gaming M3

I'd personally go for the 1080 if I were in your shoes. I run a 1070 on a 2k 144hz monitor and get great fps on high settings in most games. So a 1080 would be more than enough for 1080p@144hz. The 1080 ti would obviously be better, but I personally have never found investing in the highest end graphics card to be worth the extra money.
