So my PC randomly shut off after a window update during shut off. I tried turning it on but it didn't work. I tried leaving it be for a whole day and plug it back it, doesn't work. I looked it up and tried the paperclip in the 24 pin cable to check if the fan works and when I start it, the fan spins for a few seconds. So what seems to be the problem?? Is my PSU dead or not? The fan works I think, so why isn't everything else?! Please help I'm a poor guy and only had this computer for 10 months..

Solution

What are your System specs?

Yes you need a new PSU.

Don't buy the same one that is in there now.

I called the company I bought it from, prebuilt, they said the warranty is only 30 days and repair is around 39 + whatever the cost of the component.. no signs of life at all. Only when I did the paperclip thing did the fan start for a second. Do I need a new PSU?

Intel i3 7100
3.9GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 1050
2GB GDDR5
8GB Ram
PSU 300w
Which one should I buy? I live in Sweden btw.

When you do the paperclip. Since you say the fans turn on. Assuming you have a HDD. Does the HDD keep spinning?

Is the company who built it in Sweden? You may be covered by the three year legal guarantee.

If this was custom built. The individual components should have manufacturer warranties. Many are good for two or more years.

Well, that PSU isn't even close to what you would really need, 300W isn't enough.

A good quality 450W would be min.
