Hey; the other day i was playing skyrim se and the game froze. It has crashed to desktop before and i heard that's normal. Sometime though, i have to do a crl alt del to escape the game. This time, i got a black screen and an error 'code 43'. Once i restarted the pc, everything was in vga mode. I restarted again and windows wouldn't boot so i restarted and went into the bios and found my boot priority had changed. Fixed that and it reboots fine. i went to AMD but the driver page would not display. I used the 'driver detect' utility and it gave me a 'recommended' driver which was a previous version to the Radeon Settings i had. No more trouble for a couple days until last night i had like 12 videos open in chrome tabs and i'm downloading some of them and i noticed everything seemed sluggish and then the screen went to a teal greenish colored blocks and i restarted and everything seems fine. I checked for bugs, i did a windows update. Hoping it doesn't act up again but thought you guys would give me some advice. thanks

Here is something new that just happened. I had chrome minimized with two tabs open. I was watching designated survivor show on the hpc-be media player. I left the video playing and expanded the browser and opened a new tab to My Ebay. The image for one of my watched items was not displaying and then i hear my video sounding like it's stuck in a loop and the player was displaying a part of the ebay page. I was unable to close the player normally so i ended the process. When i went back to ebay, the item image appeared.
Hoping this sheds a bit more light on what's going on here. thanks

Could my running a pcie 3.0 gpu in a pcie 2.0 slot be the issue? It worked without a hitch for over a month.
Help

oh boy. i had chrome open to 8 tabs, four of which were youtube videos. one began to buffer(my speed was 115mbps) Next, the tabs didn't want to close so i closed the browser out. Now i don't have any desktop icons nor taskbar. Windows gave me an error when i tried ctr alt del so i did a hard restart and now everything seems fine again. Windows actually started without giving me the "start windows normally?" option. Also, i got a note saying windows installed new updates...i have mine set to download and let me choose when to install.
I'll keep posting and hopefully one of you rocket scientists can figure this out. thanks again

Is it okay to simply run the windows memory diagnostic tool i find in control panel/admin tools?

Okay, i did just run this test and it reported No errors. I assume the memtest boot disk is much more comprehensive since you say to let it run overnight.
For this one, i'll have to study to understand exactly how to create this. My first attempt failed.

Okay, i had to let windows create the boot disk(on a cd disk)because i couldn't get express burn to work right. I booted to the disk and the memtest began. I let it run awhile but i'll have to run it for real once i turn in tonight. I'll post the results in the morning. thanks for the help!

Hey buddy; a while back, i used my asus turbo evo software and overclocked this phenomII 955. i used their 'cpu level up' and set it in the middle, so now it's running like a phenomII 965. Would i be better off setting it back to stock or would it help to crank it up some more? Since this new GPU runs off the motherboard, i'm worried about voltage. Could the oc'g have anything to do with my issue?

I've been playing skyrim se for about an hour; i'm running thru the woods and the game freezes. Again i hit ctr alt del several times until the screen goes dark..i can still hear the game. then i hit escape and the screen turns whitish and still frozen so i have to hard start the pc. I'm beginning to think my new rx560 is the culprit. Still will run the memtest through the night.

The memtest ran for 8 hours but i can't find any report. Before i closed it out and restarted, i saw:
Test 2 1 error
Test 9 5 errors
I was hoping for a log. i've read that if you have any memory errors at all that you should replace it...true?

with more then one dimm one of the dimms may be failing. on the error report should been dimm slot or the memory info. if your ram is still under warranty start an rma. ask for a cross ship. so that you can still use your pc till the new ram come in. if the pc errors out again after ram replacment it may be the mb vrm that are causing the lock ups.

tell me this. my memory is the PNY Optima 16GB (4x 4GB) 240-Pin SDRAM DDR3 1333
can i replace it all with this? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820233198

Actually, i just read that amd processors work better with tighter timings instead of higher speeds. In other words, DDR3-1333 @ 7-7-7-24 works better than, say DDR3-1600 @ 9-9-9-24. That link to the corsair is 1600 @ 9-9-9-24. Should i be searching for memory with the tighter timing or am i overthinking this? :)
