My mother has a laptop with only 1 slot (had 2gb ram). I tried to put 1 memory of 4gb (in theory, the maximum ram that the laptop supports), but when i boot the pc, windows (bios, dxdiag, task manager, even third like Ccleaner) only recognize 2gb. But CPU-Z show me 4gb.
Obviously is reading the memory (because is the only ram in the laptop) but for some reason is using half.

I tried unchecking option from maximum ram in msconfig/boot but nothing change

Does it show 2GB RAM in the taskmanager aswell?
Are they the same type RAM? Like ECC, non ECC or unbuffered?
