Hi!
I bought a built pc with a 1x8 GB ram in it and im looking to add 4x2 GB into it. The company of the 8x1 does not sell 8x1 by itself but sells 8x2. The people that built my current pc bought that 8x2 and used one stick for each build they made. So pretty much I have 1x8 stick. Can I add a 4x2 to that to make it 16gb? (since 4x2 GB is the only 8gb ram the company sells)

Solution
The 8x2 will almost certainly work with the 8x1 for 24GB in flex-channel mode with Intel or single-channel mode for AMD, provided you have 4 slots. If it doesn't you can then sell your original stick and end up with a matching 16GB.

The 4x2 may or may not work, especially if you are trying to put it into one channel with the 8x1 in the other. So you may as well instead try another company's 8x1 stick, bought from a place that allows returns.
