toshiba 2 tb hdd not working

my 2tb toshiba hdd is not working as when i connect it to my laptop its connect with normal sound and even i can feel the harddisk movement but not showing ant thing else rather than comes in my lappy as local disk H, and not showing any content.
when i tried to disconnect it with safely remove icon its comes with a messege that( windows is unable to stop the device ;usb mass storage device;dont remove this device while it is in use.close any programme that is using this device and than remove it.
i tried it to connect in my desktop but same problem is there

That's not a good sign at all. Could you feel it spinning inside the case? It's worth trying the same on a Linux system which is less precious about Windows partitioning.

If you download, say, Linux Cinnamon Mint from the Net and use a utillity named Rufus, you can create a bootable thumb drive. Change your BIOS to boot from USB and when the system is running, introduce the hard disk and see if that shows any data.
It's unfortunate but that one occasion might have upset things. Was it always the H: drive or could there be another Partition containing your data?

Plug it in the USB again and this time, go into Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management and see how many Partitions that disk has.
