Yeah, well, whichever one would be a wiser acquisition of these two either i5 8400 or skylake i7 6700k, i already have the motherboard asus z170 pro gaming ready to go and i do not know what to do ??? And should be pure gaming ..

No no need to follow any specific sequence of action. I would recommend to install the latest bios first then once everything is fine install your new cpu. However as per asus 3016 bios is the point where they have validated I7 7700k first. But better to update bios first.
6700K (which is unlocked and can be OC'd), since you already have the Z170 (overclockable) mobo. Games of today are using more threads than before, so, despite the 4C/8T of the i7 previously intended for multi-tasking, it is now considered a basic CPU in this day and age (esp. with the release of 6C Intel Coffee Lake CPUs and 6C AMD Ryzens)

why not the i7 7700k instead, u can just ask local store to update the BIOS and then use the Kabylake instead XD it is the best CPU available for that platform anyway XD

and yes, u would really need those extra threads if u want more longetivity :D

What if I had a Kaby Lake i7 7700k processor, and the Asus z170 pro Gaming motherboard, which I upgraded to Version 3016 BIOS memory stick, will it work,or do i get just black screen?

As per Asus Bios 3016 will be required at least to run a i7-7700k. Since the recent release is 3501 so after installing a new CPU, flash bios to latest one. And of course 17-7700k will be the best solution for you with your mobo. Since we have 6c cpus with us, games will be more multi-thread/multi-core oriented.

Ok you have a brand new mobo lying on your desk and you don't have a cpu to run it and you are thinking to get i5 8400 which is not compatible with this. Ok no problem got it. Since you are sure about the bios so no problem it can run a i7 7700k with out any issue. Update bios afterwards.

But asus is claiming that 3016 bios is validated with i7 7700k. So it should work jyst out of the box. No need do do anything. However if the bios is older than 3016 then you have to go to local shop to update it. Becs only top of the line mobos can flush bios with out cpu. So if it is 3016 you will be just fine.
