Gigabyte z170 warranty India

Hi guys, i have a doubt regarding my gigabyte z170 motherboard. It was bought on 2016 november from Amazon India. But the serial no begins with- 1547xxxxxxxx. When i called the service centre regarding expiration of warranty, they say the 15 indicates it was bought on 2015 and 47 means 47th week and so it has warranty only till next yr.

Why is this happening? Do someone know about this?

it a mistake. if you were the seller of the mb from the date you got that mb the warranty would be running from the serial number on the mb. as your the buyer here in the us the warranty will start on the day you buy the iteam. if your missing that paper work from amazon or the seller the vendor has to use the date the product was built as the start date for the warranty. when doing rma paperwork you have to send in a copy of the bill of sales to prove the units warranty still in effect.

the csr rep made an error with you. if you had lost the bill of sale the vedor will use the date the mb was made by it serial number. on your mb it was made in the last few weeks of 2015. with any product it gets boxed up and then placed on a cargo ship to take a few weeks to a few months to get over seas. from there the mb may have gone from amazon or amazon resellers wearhouse. there to sit till it was sold to you. as long as you have bill of sales that shows a latter date the vendor has to use thta as the start date if you register the warranty on the item if it need to be registered with the vendor.
