Hi all. Just wanted to know if it is ok to connect an external hdd which is designed as microusb type b to usb type 3 by using an aftermarket microusb type b to usb type c cable. I am not able to find an external hdd with both usb type c connectors. At my local store for ex. LaCie sells only the usb 3.0 hdds. No usb c at all. I need the usb type c connection as I want to use it with a new macbook pro. So shall i go ahead and take a regular usb type 3 hdd and just switch the cable, or to take the usb type c designed hdd from an online store? Thanks for your input.

I haven't tried but it should work just fine. any type of connector if its direct then should hold. sometimes it will not work if you connect it though other device.
