Hi
This is the question to the owners of Dell studio xps 435mt.
Has anyone successfully upgraded this desktop to amd's rx series graphic card?

I have Dell studio xps 435mt with intel i7 920, 12 gb ram, 1tb seagate barracuda hdd and upgraded Evga 500w bronze psu.

I would like to get Gigabyte rx 560 4gb card. I read that rx series cards don't work on some older computers due to bios incompatibility. Well my dell is from 2009 and there has not been any bios updates since 2010.

It would be a great help if someone who owns this desktop can answer this.
Thanks

I know that sometimes they do work on older boards as i've gotten away with it on an old dell t5500 with an rx 460.

These cards don't work without a uefi bios.

Jaslion, it is not correct that these cards won't work on non uefi bios.

There are people who have problems with legacy bios motherboards and there are people who had no problems at all. It all depends on the motherboard bios.
That's why I asked if someone has tried Rx series on Dell studio XPS 435mt.
I have successfully used gtx 1060 6gb on this pc. As I have given the gtx 1060 to my son, I am looking for a cheap graphic card with some gaming ability and Rx 560 seems to be good option.

So, did you find any new upgrades for your Dell Studio XPS 435mt? Are you still using it? I've just uninstalled an Nvidia 970 from my 435mt and down graded to an AMD HD 7850. Nvidia card worked great. I still use it everyday as a work computer but even with a SSD it's slowing. Dell put out an update in 2011 to the last bios but it's a version of the 2009 bios.
If there's nothing new, I guess next year I'll retire it to the closet. Could get a new motherboard and processor. I think 10 years is long enough. The case is somewhat restrictive on cooling.

Specs listed.
Intel i7 920 2.66 gb cpu
Windows 10 Pro/Office 2016
Foxcom x58 OR849J mb
Patriot Viper DDR3 1066 16gb ram
AMD HD7859 2gb gpu
Seasonic SSR650 G series 650w psu
Samsung 1tb sata3 nand ssd
Asus dvd/rw CD drive
Deep Cool GameMaxx 300 cpu cooler 90mm fan
SilenX INX40c northbridge cooler w/cooler master 40mm fan
Antec 90mm frnt fan/ 80mm rear
StarTech 90mm pcie exhaust blower fan
Sunix USB 3.0 pcie 4 port card

All the mods came as the years went by.
It would get hot when I use to play games on it. But as a work computer and watching videos, it runs cool. I got it for 700.00 as a Dell refurb Feb 2009. It's been worth every penny.
