Arma 3 and Dayz (if you're playing the mod version) are very single thread demanding where Intel would be better.
That being said, Ryzen is not far behind in performance and offers a lot better value for money.
As for me, i'd rather get AMD simply because i don't want to support Intels anti-consumer and anti-competition practices.

My personal opinion.

If it is not broken, don't fix it.

If you were to upgrade, between AMD and INTEL, the choice would be based off the applications you are using it for.

I would pick whichever is best for your MOBO socket, has the least power consumption for performance. One that fits your cooler aswell.

The CPU's all perform around the same levels with slight variances, so Its not really which one is the best for me, its which one works the best for my current usage and applications.
For gaming like you said, I would use an AMD CPU, but this is my opinion. I have had better performance when it comes to intensive gaming with AMD vs INTEL.

Like state below, I agree 110%
This rivalry between people bashing AMD and Intel chips is getting OLD. They both perform exceptionally and do the job required, if the same or just minor performance variations. AMD is budget, with more heat and power, INTEL is the same, just with more efficiency, less power, and less heat but a much higher price tag/per performance.

I do FULLY AGREE with Finstar, If the games are single core applications and do not utilize multiple cores, Then use INTEL as the single core performance is exceptional.

AMD or Intel. Who care man? Just get the one you can afford seriously. Both will give you the performance you pay for. I'm sick of tired of hearing AMD vs Intel argues over a decade.

But the truth is if you are on a budget then AMD is a great value for the money. If not, then go all out on Intel. Just my two cents.

That is just not true. Intel will perform better than AMD for gaming, and with the new Coffee Lake CPUs, Intel will perform way better.
AMD is cheaper though, so if you are on a tight budget, the Ryzen will perform fine in games. But if money is not an issue or you want the best game performer then Intel is the way to go.
