I’m wondering about choosing the best value CPU for gaming/CAD work and productivity? The new Coffee lake i5 8600k has a premium price over any other mid range CPU but is this worth the performance compared to other CPUS.
For gaming/CAD combined performance, Ryzen 1600 is your best bang for the money choice. 6 cores/12 threads compared to coffee lake I5 6 cores 6 threads, much better for CAD and not far behind in gaming.

Autodesk products generally do favor Intel systems. That doesn't mean that you could use an AMD Ryzen CPU on it, but for optimum performance you definitely want to go Intel.

Have you ever used AutoCAD? Sketchup? Revit? 3DsMax? Do you know what Autodesk products do and can do, and that more threads doesn't always translate to more performance?
