So my wife greenlit the build I listed below but before I could really research more she placed my order. So my fear is my card may not fit in the case or that I overlooked something. I would appreciate anyone lending thoughts or advice as I'm just a bit worried rushing was not so smart. Thank you in advance for any input and tips. If I missed something basic, please let me know because I feel like I did and just am missing the obvious.

I'd say there's a big difference between dead and dead-end. Z270 is far from dead.

Thank you for the fast reply, it is most appreciated. With the radiator front mounted I should be good right? My 2nd build, with a long time between, did I mess up bad on the this one in any area? Should I pick up anything extra fan wise or other? Just crossing all t's and dotting i's. Thank you again for the help.

looks good... for a while ago..

i7-8700K won't be available for another month or more. But it would be nice to have.

Thanks for the replies gents. I did see the 8700 series but Newegg is out of stock and the other supplier B&H list it as coming soon.

I tried to future proof it as best I could. Worse case, I upgrade the mobo and cpu if needed but I think the i7 7700k should do me right for some time right? Again, thank you guys and final minor question is should I grab any other fans for the case?

What monitor will you be using? At 1080p the GTX 1080 Ti will be overkill. At higher resolutions the difference between the 7700K and 8700K will be next to nothing.

Going with the 7700k and z270 mobo. I spoke with Microcenter corporate and they said they spoke to Intel requesting a status update on restock of the 8700, Intel had no solid answer. Ebay scalpers are charging insane amounts and my wife said "when is enough enough?". This build is a good one imo, and it will be fun running on my 4k gsync monitor. Thank you everyone, I'll just upgrade my mobo and cpu down the road or build.
