Hi,

I just got this MB the other day and I'm trying to understand exactly how many of the SATA Ports can be used at the same time. From what the manual says:

* M2_1, SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.

* M2_2, SATA3_4 and SATA3_5 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.

From reading this, if you are not using any M2 drives and only SATA hard drives/SSDs, the

most SATA ports that are usable at one time are 8? I'm confused why ASRock even put 10 SATA ports on the MB if only 8 can be used at one time?

Any feedback would be great.

Solution
You can use 10.

The M.2 and sata conflicts apply to sata M.2 drives, not nvme PCIe drives.

I have 2 M.2 drives in use and they do not conflict with any of the 10 ports. I also have 9 SATA 3 drives and an Optical drive connected. All 12 drives work perfectly.

Thanks for the reply Tanyac.

I just tested connecting hard drives to SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 and they both work at the same time. Not sure why they didn't work the first time.
