i just bought a xonar dsx by asus and was wondering what is the best way to connect to the card, via multi-channel or via spdif cable. the card has dts and dts neo support but is it better than just connecthing via 3.5mm aux for front, back, sub for uncompressed audio... am new to the audio game and i keep running around loops trying to find out what each term means and what is better at the end of the for my particualr setup.

If your card and speakers have spdif then use that. But the speakers must have a decoder for DTS/Neo support for full 2.1/5.1/7.1 .

If not then you need to run separate 3.5mm cables to get 5.1 or 7.1 speakers to work in games, music etc.

List your speaker brand and model number and we can help you more.
