Hi guys...
Just wanted to know which cpu that will allow me to connect 4 GPU and get the full performance out of it?
I did some research and found out that the amd treadripper has 64 pcie lane. I cannot find another cpu that is cheaper than the treadripper.
Can someone recommend a cpu that will allow me to connect 4 GPU to it and get full performance.
It's a build I doing for password crunching and occasional gaming if possible.
Thanks.

You aren't going to need anything like PCIe x16 for 'password crunching'. Much like mining, everything happens within the GPU and its VRAM with the only PCIe traffic being assigning search blocks and monitoring process. A single x1 lane would be enough to manage multiple GPUs.

Well since u guy said that the GPU doesn't use full x16 pcie lane, I narrowed down my options to these 2 cpu;
I7-7800x and I7-8700k
Since the i7-8700k is only x16 and the i7-7800x has 28.
Which one should work best?
