Overclocking Corsair Vengeance 8gb 2400mhz C16 ram help needed

Hello Friends,

I need help to overclock my ram to 2666mhz as i am seeing atleast 5-7 fps gain in games with it.
i am using gigabyte z370 motherboard and a i5 8400 cpu.
this is the memory model number: CMK8GX4M1A2400C16R
please explain all the timings and settings in bios as i am a newbie in this regard.

Set the speed to 2666 and up the voltage 0.02 volts. If that don't work then up the voltage from 1.22 to 1.25 volts.
If your already seeing gains with it then it must already be running that speed!

Up the voltage to 1.35v as that is what is always used when oc the RAM. As you RAM is only rated for 2400MHz, you may have to lower the latency (CL) a bit.
Coffee Lake CPUs has a stock memory speed of 2666MHz, so yes it makes sense to run your RAM at that speed at lest.

This is not true his memory is rated for 1.2 volts their no reason to hit it with 1.35 volts and that is not always used to overclock memory.

Yes but as he is trying to overclock above factory rated speed, the 1.35V would probably be needed and it won't harm anything anyway.

1.22 to 1.25 should be plenty for that small OC.

Well, try it first. Just saying that this is not a factory tested overclock like the higher speed branded RAM.

thanks man for suggestions , for this overclock i referred a youtube video to understand how to change the frequency inside the bios using numpad + to 26.66 manually.

all other settings were in auto and timings got changed from 2400mhz 16-16-16-39 to 2666mhz 18-18-18-44 automatically in the bios, voltage got changed to 1.22v (auto).

i don't understand the gains after doing this. all seems same.

is this fine? or i need to tweak something else also?

computer is booted up and running with these auto settings. voltage is 1.22 (auto setting)

as per calculation absolute latency
16/2400=0.0066666
18/2666=0.0067516

computer is stable after testing with prime95 and while playing gta5 for 30min.

so is this ok or 2400mhz was better? please suggest.

Try 1.35v and set the timings manually, then test if it's stable. Probably not as else they would have branded the ram as 2666MHz @1.35v

I would go with 2666MHz as the other is below the stock speed of the memory controller on that CPU.
