5ghz not working

I got a new service provider and I have to use their router. My desktop and laptop will connect to the router but there is no internet. My phone connects find though., I use a usb wifi adapter on my desktop and the laptop is built in. I've tried updating drivers and there aren't any. Help would be appreciated.
