Hi, recently my graphics card has stopped working, well sort of. It won't detect that the HDMI is plugged in, I'm now having to use the motherboard HDMI to use my computer. Thats not all, the fan on the card sounds like a hair dryer, it seems to be spinning faster now. I did recently get a message saying "The system has experienced a boot failures because of overclocking", so I'm assuming this has done something in my BIOS.

I have tried using another Graphics card (a older gtx 460) but that did the same, fan really loud. I've even removed the card to make sure it was the cause of the sound and not another fan. I've tried resetting the bios to default, using a different HDMI cable, trying a different monitor, but nothing is working and it's starting to do my head in :/. My computer also seems to freeze when I try to open the Nvidia control panel, I'm assuming this is because my graphics card isn't being used?

It did quite down at one point on restarting, but after restarting again to test it it's back to loud. If anyone has any advice please say.

Update-

Did a bit of research and found that I should have a pcie connected? I've never had connected to the card before but I thought I'd give it a try. Well it seems to fix the loud fan problem however I'm still unable to use the HDMI port, also by doing this I'm unable to use the HDMI port on the motherboard now too :/.

I'm only getting image through the motherboard. Can't use the graphics card. This all started happening when I pull something out of the motherboards HDMI slot. It was a plaatic cover that goes over/in it to stop you using it. I've tried putting that back in and plugging the HDMI into my graphics card but doesn't work.

How do I clear the CMOS? I think I've done that already.

Well I tried the cmos clear, took battery out for 20 minutes. Still not working. What do you mean by output? I've tried plugging it into a different t monitor, same problem.

Looking through the motherboard voltage controls on the bios. Under the normal for Dynamic Vcore (DVID) and Graphics DVID it says 0.000v. Should their be anything there?

Tried that one as well with pcie power connectors connected? Seemed you found out later you had to ...
