Hi all,
this is my first post here.

This is my current setup
Mobo: Asrock 870 Extreme3
CPU: AMD phenom II x4 955
Ram : 8GB
Seasonic S12II 520 BRONZE, SS-520GB Power Supply
GPU: AMD HD 6870.

Now iam looking to upgrade my GPU without upgrading anything else.
I play LOL, six siege, gta 5, OverWatch, batman arkham knigt
And now iam looking for a GPU to (hopefully) be able to play assassins creed origin, farcry 5, just cause 3.
What are your suggestions i have found a reasonable priced EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC 4GB, is that to heavy or is it worth it?
let me hear your suggestions pls i dont have much experience with this kind of stuff.
hopefully i gave enough information.

depends on the price

a gtx 970 is a great gpu, it will be held back by your cpu though. IF you intend to upgrade your setup it is a great purchase that will serve you well at 1080p

max gpu you should pair with your current setup is a gtx 1050 ti

I can get my hands one one wich is 11 months old (13 monts of waranty left) for 120 euro's
there are some 660/750 ti for sale around that price aswell but i think this is way better since the 4 gb of memory instead of 2 gb.
and what do you mean with "it will be held back by your cpu"

120 for a 970 isa nobrainer. Go get it sure your cpu will hold it back quite a bit most of the time. You will not have a good experience with frac cry 5 and origin since the leaked min specs need a better cpu than you have atm. Still for 120 a 970 is a steal and can easily be carried over to a new system.

Performance in the newer demanding games is affected by CPU as well as videocard. So, since your CPU is an older slower quad core, those new and very demanding games might be playable, you just won't see the high framerates that you would with the 970 if you had a more modern quad core.. It still could be worth it though because you'll get great 1080p performance in all but those very demanding games. A 1050 Ti would be your alternative, and unless you can get the 1050 Ti at a substantially lower price then you might as well get the 970.

I would not advise getting the 660/750 Ti at this point in time, due to your needs being more than those cards can handle.

So you're saying that I might be able to play the upcoming games with some lower fps on low/mid settings? With the 970,
And that if I can get a 1050ti for less then 120 I should buy that one else just go for 970 if the 1050 is more expensive?

A 970 is pretty much a gtx 1060 so just get the 970. In newer games you might not even get 30 fps since your cpu is quite old and those new games are really demanding on both cpu and gpu.

So its been a while of my last reply,
the gtx 970 for 120 euros did not go trough (scammer) and at this moment there are no gtx 970 or 1050 cards for sale near me.
so my next question how are the AMD cards these days. i had some bad experience with them (drivers not working)
so now my question is:
what is the best AMD GPU that fits my system? and will can play the same (assassins screed origin/farcy 5 for example) as with the GTX 970 could?

Oké it's been some days,
I still did not get hold of a GTX 970 or 1050 to. Shamefully they are not that frequently sold in the neighborhood and when they are it are scammers. Now I found that there are quite a lot amd cards. Normally I'm not a fan of and (bad experience with drivers not working properly) now my question is how are the MD cards these days and is for example the r9 290 4gb good enough instead of the GTX 970? Will I be able to play assassin's Creed origin/farcry 5 / just cause 3??
