Hi there,

I own Intel core i7 920 2.67 ghz.My motherboard has presented some problems which lead to a significant decrease in performance due to some dead slots that it has (3 Ram slots and the main graphic's card slot). With that being said,I need to replace my motherboard with a new one.I am thinking about Gigabyte B150M-D3H DDR3 and Asus H170M-E D3.I prefer Asus over Gigabyte but I would appreciate your opinion on which one is a better option and also if both of them are compatible with my processor.

Thank's in advance

I wouldn't waste money on that old of a platform if more funds are available. Sell what you have could help as well. Otherwise, used is the only worthwhile solution.

Yep you are right, the platform is pretty old.I built my pc at 2008-09 period just when i7 920 was released, meaning that the system that I own now was once valued at around 1300$ and could run literally everything. The thing is that life happened and I was pretty much absent from the whole hardware stuff. That left me outdated and I am a little lost in terms of what is the right option for a hardware piece nowadays.I need to also note that I had a 750w psu which dropped dead like 1 year ago and I had to replace it with a 600w corsair modular one.So what do you consider solid options in terms of cpu, motherboard, graphic's card, and ram for a pc that is being used for both gaming and business projects/assignments? In addition sd hard drives are worth it?

Thank you

Consider a medium range budget since I am still a university student. As it comes to the programs that I use..it is nothing more than microsoft office.
