Are HD TV's a good option for monitors?

Hi All!

My family has a Insignia 24" 1080p TV, and I was wondering if, for a desktop I might build, would it be a suitable monitor? I will be doing mainly video and photo editing! Thanks guys!

I mean it is up to you personally just try it and see if you like it and even if it doesn't work or you don't like it just don't use it.

The response time would probably be a bit high for gaming but should be fine for video/photo editing.

check the spec on the tv. some of the older tv if used as a monitor wont go that high in video res. (800 by 600). they were not made at the time to go any higher.

It was made in 2012, and it actually goes to 720p. Honestly, it isn't that great, but I'll still consider using it.
