Computer Shutting Down In-Game but it's not consistent

I want to start off by saying that I'm amateur at best when it comes to computers so if you're kind enough to reply to this post keep that in mind.

So I've just done my first build and the computer seems to be running great except for the shut down problem that continually happens. So I've been playing Shadow of War, before that Witcher 3 and after about an hour the computer will shut down and this has happened almost every time I've played lately but the weird part is I played for about 4-1/2 hours today and it ran fine the entire time? But then later in the day I got back on and sure enough it shut off again after about an hour, then if I turn it right back on and try to play again it will shut down in like 20 mins.

I know this definitely seems like a heating issue, at least that's what I've read on other threads but I'm monitoring my temps with Cam software and they seem reasonable. The max temp either the CPU or GPU reached is 60'c and it's still shutting down and most of the time they're not even that high when it shuts down unless the software is giving me false readings. One more thing I'd like to mention is like I said I built this computer from scratch and I didn't touch the BIOS. I've made all my fan settings through CAM so if this could be a problem let me know.

The Specs:
Intel i7-7700k Kaby Lake / Kraken X62
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti (Asus Rog OC Edition)
MOBO - Maximus IX Code
Ram - G.Skill 32GB Ram
PSU - Corsair RM1000i

Thank you all in advance if you can take the time to help me out with this.

Download the software and run it. You should see one or more dump files. Find the last one and you will see what is the cause for the shutdown.

If you can't see anything in the program, Right click on My Computer>Properties>Advanced System Settings(on the upper left corner)>Startup And Recovery Settings and make sure you have "Small Dump" selected under...

I had the same exact problem with my PC. I had Windows 10 installed, and whenever I played some games, my PC would just shut down. I monitor my temperatures and they got at around 70C on both my GPU and my CPU. I opened up my computer, cleaned all the dust in it with a vacuum cleaner and a brush, deleted windows 10 and installed windows 7 and everything seemed to be working fine. But not long ago it happened again. But this time I downloaded IObit's Driver Booster, updated all my drivers and everything is working fine now. Try it out. I hope you fix your problem.

Best of luck,
Steve.

Steve thank you for replying. I don't want to go to Windows 7 but I will look into the IObit's Driver Booster and I'll open it up just to make sure everything is clean and ready to work the way it should. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks,
JB

So I re-installed Windows with a clean wipe and installed every driver I could think of and it shut down again after playing Shadow of War for about 2 1/2 hours. I'm completely lost on what to do... Because I reinstalled everything does anybody believe that it has to be a hardware related issue?

Thanks,
JB

If you can't see anything in the program, Right click on My Computer>Properties>Advanced System Settings(on the upper left corner)>Startup And Recovery Settings and make sure you have "Small Dump" selected under Write debugging information. Wait until your PC crashes. After that start the software and check to see if you have a dump file which will tell you what is causing the problem.

Best of luck,
Steve.
