Hi,
A while ago I had a problem with my computer which was working perfectly. It started giving disk read errors on boot which went away after a few restarts. However the problem worsened and the computer would not boot up at all as it didnt detect any hard drive in BIOS. I bought a new HDD and it booted up from there perfectly for a few days before it couldnt be detected by the BIOS too. I then bought a new motherboard, used the new SATA cables, plugged in only the new drive, but BIOS still doesnt detect any hard drive. The SATA power cables are working fine too as I plugged them into the optical disk drive, and I am able to open and close the disk tray, yet BIOS also doesnt detect it. Can anyone advise me on this problem as I have no idea where the problem might be.

I've upgraded my parts:
i5-7500
Gigabyte H270 Gaming 3
Corsair 8GB x1
Corsair TX650M
Seagate 1TB

on newer mb if sata settings and m2 ports are on a lot of the sata ports get turned off. read your mb guild see if you need those optional items on. ports 0/1 should work. if it not a bios bug/bios setting (make sure the mb has the newest bios on it.). you may have a power issue that cooking the drives or the mb. you may need to rma the mb and power supply at the same time if no sata devices are seen.

Hi thanks for your answer. I've checked the BIOS version on Gigabyte website and it is the latest version. The SATA controllers are also on in BIOS. I'm not sure if the SATA power cables are working but if they can power up my optical disk drive, is it safe to assume they are fine?
