Hello.
I dont know how this is possible, but i have Ripjaws V RED DDR4-2400MHz CL15 http://prntscr.com/h0fujx stock 2400 runing at 2666 with overclock http://prntscr.com/h0fv1p
and now i bough a Ripjaws V SILVER DDR4-3000MHz CL15 with same numbers only the silver has default 1.35V and it is stuck on 2400mhz . I used xmp and manual timings, voltage . But it wont bootloops and then back at stock.
My motherboard is aorus gaming 5 ax370 with an ryzen 1600.
I know is "normal" having ram problems with ryzen but this one i didngt find anything similar anywere, thats why im asking here.

Thank you

Solution

I understand, just keep on tinkering and find something high speed that is still stable to run. ;)

Just means that your cpu/motherboard still don't do >3000mhz yet when clocking ram. Haven't tinkered too much with my Ryzen system yet,but my ram also doesn't like to run over 2666mhz. Maybe because mine is the "Ripjaws V" too, mine is Hynix chips with which Ryzen works less well.
Might be that a later bios makes things run smoother at higher speed, but right now you might be stuck at 2666mhz.Can try 2933mhz,but might be necesssary to loosen timings. My ram runs at 2666mhz+timings of 14-14-14-30.Might try that as well.

Thank you for reply.
What are your ram stock mhz values? You are runig your 3000 at 2666 our like me you are overcloking your 2400 to 2666?
I saw a post on other forum that 2400 mhz with cl10 would be better than 3000mhz with cl 15...not sure about that since i saw everytime ryzen is mhz hungry on ram. Ill try messing with it tonight

Well i got some news...
I puted my 3000 mhz stock ram, then aplyed my 2400stock ram(2666oc) profile and it booted up to 2666. Then i switched only the frequencies to 29 and it booted up with the 2933mhz. Dont have any ideia how it that works xD The only thing that automatically changed was the cl...went from 15 to 16
I dont have time to try anything else now but i know it can reach the stock values at least. Unfortunately the scores in the performance test i tested didnt went much higher. Only 2% increase in performance vs the 2666.

Im trying to take the most profit for gaming. I saw significantly fps increase from 2133 to 3200 about 20 fps diference...dont know about from 2666 to 3200.
Ill keep on testing. Maybe ill stick with 2666 if the 3000 cant overclock a bit or/and doesnt increave some fps
And im still stuck on 16 latenci...i inpute on both modules the ram stiker default values but it ads up 1 on boot. It even was adding trc values from default 50 to 62, but i managed to make him acept the 50(dont know how much influence it has in the end)

Interesting video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFPxNAQeI8Y
So it seems for gaming ryzen cpus because of infinity fabric they benefith from higher mhz even if the timing are higher too.
For example a 3200 with higher timing will have the same latency as a 2400 with lower timing...overall performance is the same exept on gaming. even with the same latency the higher mhz will be better.

Im going to the right spot i think :p Ill have to do calculations to in the end having the same latency

Im having this trouble now because i dont want to spend money on better ram xD im better saving for a gpu. on 2k + ram will be insignificant, but for 1080 p is very noticable

Well after much reading and trying, i get to the conclusion that my 3000 mhz module is the same as my 2400...only the default voltages changed.
Is kinda like a ryzen non x and x version lol almost same thing.
Im gona keep my 2400 mhz modules since i managed to go 2933 mhz overclocked with regular timings. And my 3000 mhz modules couldn't increase nothing past that :(
