Hi, hope this in the right place...

My 10 year old has been playing minecraft (mostly on hypixel server) and making videos to upload to YouTube on his laptop.

He wants a gaming pc for christmas and I'm a little bit clueless on the best route to go.

My max budget is £500 for now but I'd prefer to only spend £200-400. He complains that his laptop is 'laggy' when filming himself play minecraft so a PC that solves that issue would be a good start!

I need to get everything, including os, monitor, etc.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Solution
@karens - essentially mine & jaslions builds are the same apart from I compromised on the GPU & a little on the monitor

Everything else isn't really a compromise at all.
The ryzen 1200 performs virtually the same as the 1300x , the corsair cx450 is a decent psu full stop.
The little viper case , yeah its cheap & a little bit timmy quality.

It does look kind of nice though & it does come with 2 x120mm cooling fans fitted .
For £20 in all honesty its kind of great value - I've used it once for someone on a very strict budget & came away fairly impressed for what it actually costs.

I could honestly cost cut for you more , the issue is for £50-60 less you lose a lot of relative performance .

Bear in mind (correct me if I'm wrong) ...

This is the cheapest I can do with eveything included. Windows 10 can be installed and used forever unactivated just a small watermark will be on the screen.

With some real budget crunching we can get you down to £500 though.

Thanks everyone. I monitor him heavily on YouTube ;) madmatt30 - is your build a decent enough one then? And will I be able to upgrade all the parts if I wanted to, next year? With that motherboard and psu, I mean.

Is a 2gb graphics card enough? I assumed I'd need 4 at least.

Bear in mind (correct me if I'm wrong) , iamt that hypixel server minecraft entirely server based ??

Or did you physically buy him the PC version of minecraft ??

If it is server based then the lagging etc may be as much down to that as to his laptop.

Go for a Ryzen 3 1300X and a RX 560 this will be a $400 build if you go with four/ 6 gigabytes of ram and get a $60 mobi. The Processor is perfect for budget video editing and gaming and the graphics card can probably play mine craft at 4K on lower settings. I have the same build but with 8Gb ram and it can play the most challenging games at 1080P
