Will cannon lake be faster than coffee lake?

Will i7 cannon be faster than 8700k? Are they going to be just low power laptop CPUs? Will cannon lake work with Z370 motherboard? Sorry for too much questions :DD I was going to buy coffee lake, but now I'm considering Ryzen which will have long support on the same platform.

Probably not. Pretty sure I saw/heard something about z390 boards?
Will it be faster?.. Probably. A little.
Just buy a new expensive mobo, (again). And a new expensive cpu. (again)

Very nearly all of the new gen cpus from both teams are pretty darn good really.
As always, wait for benchmarks and testing from multiple sources.. :)
