Hey guys. A novice builder here, i recntly build a new system, specs are as followed.

CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU COOLER: Corsair - H110i 113.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI - H270 Gaming Pro Carbon ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
MEMORY: G.Skill - Trident Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-4000 Memory
Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
GPU: Asus - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card
PSU: SeaSonic - X Series 1050W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
So far ive only tried bread boarding it and Everything spins and lights up, but there are no beeps and it dosnt post. The ez debug led for the cpu also lights up.
So heres my question, is there any way to tell if its the motherboard or the cpu thats faulty without another cpu/mb to test it with?

Solution
pull the gpu...uses one ram stick...see if there any cmos bios output from the mb to video screen or see if the debug led go to ff. new mb dont have speakers unless you buy one if you want to hear the post beep. if there no post pull the mb to see if there a dead short. if it posts fine on top of a box make sure the standoiff are used to keep it from shorting out.
