I wanna do video editing/gaming streaming and was wondering what CPU would be better, I don't have a build or anything and I'm new to the pc world, what would be better?

Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Or

AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor

What other parts would go great with a build like this? My budget is around $1000-$1200 usd

If you buy the Ryzen 1600, depending on you you will overclock or not, you can buy a cheap

A320 (50 usd, no overclock) or B350 (60-70 usd, overclock) motherboard

Whereas for the 8400, there are only Z370 mobos which are 120+ usd.

I'd say the Ryzen 1600
As it is a great CPU for Streaming/editing as it has more cores and is only slightly slower at gaming (if not streaming).
It also comes at a cheaper cost and paired with a B350 Mobo is a great combo.
It also comes with the great Wraith Spire cooler which should be enough for your needs if you don't overclock.

It will come at a great price since B350 boards are not expensive and you won't be needing additional cooler.

But if you would prefer an intel model you could go with the i5-8400.
But it will require an expensive motherboard as cheaper ones are not available for the socket now.
it also comes with the crappy intel stock cooler which will need to be replaced.
