Hello,

I've also picked a couple that I feel will suit your needs. First of all, regarding your question about the two laptops you linked, the 'MSI' would be the better choice, as the processor and storage solution is much better in the 'MSI'.

Nevertheless I will list the laptops that I have come across:
------------------------------------------------------------------

#1 - HP Pavilion 15t ($1049)

- Yes, it's slightly over budget, however this packs a very fast i7-7700HQ, 16GB's DDR4 RAM (Helpful for editing), 128GB SSD + 2TB HDD and a neat GTX 1050 4GB (Good for gaming at medium - high settings)

- According to the specification it allows for up to 9 hours of video playback, but does come in at a lightest weight of 4.8 lbs

- Overall, looking at the form factor, it's an impressive system, with a minimalist design, combined with the black and acid green (Which looks awesome in my opinion) + packs the performance to meet all your needs.

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-15t-Power-Green/dp/B0721RLM94/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509214215&sr=8-1&keywords=HP+Pavilion+Power+1GK62AV

-----------------------------------------------------------------

2# ASUS VivoBook ($1039)

- Again it's slightly over budget, but the form factor does reflect the price.

- The specification in this system differs very slight, with a 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, a weight of 5.1 lbs and fast charging technology - "charges up to 60% capacity in just 49 minutes" (Good for 'on the go' or 'a quick top up')

- According to - https://www.ultrabookreview.com/17309-asus-vivobook-n580-review/, the battery life can be expected to last 4-6 hours (depending on task)

https://www.amazon.com/VivoBook-i7-7700HQ-Processor-GeForce-keyboard/dp/B071ZL3996/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

--------------------------------------------------------------------

3# ASUS FX Series ($929)

- This system is under budget and includes one minor difference compared to the 'Asus' system, this being the reduction from 16GB's RAM to 8GB's.
8GB's should be plentiful, but considering your editing requirements, it might be worth thinking 'How much editing will I be doing'? 'Is it demanding'? But I suspect 8GB's should be fine (This laptop does state "8GB DDR4 can up to 16GB," - so it's certainly up-gradable if needed)

- Weight is a much heavier 5.5 Ibs (Slightly more bulky, compared to the two above).

- According to https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-FX553VD-7700HQ-GTX-1050-Laptop-Review.213522.0.html, the battery life is quite poor up to around 3-4 hours - but as these laptops are built for performance rather than power saving, it's something you cannot escape.

https://www.amazon.com/Flagship-Performance-i7-7700HQ-GeForce-Windows/dp/B0744FGMVD/ref=sr_1_23?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1509213989&sr=1-23&keywords=laptop&refinements=p_36%3A90000-104000%2Cp_n_condition-type%3A2224371011
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, I think there's a good selection here, as well as the MSI model you mentioned (Which is good value for money when comparing). These will all serve your needs, but have a good look.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
SM
