should i get a corsair or SeaSonic psu?

im torn between a corsair and a seasonic psu... the corsair is 10$ cheaper but the seasonic is more highly reviewed... both are semi modular 80+ gold

Between the 2 I would go with Seasonic as they are normally very high quality.

I don't put anything other than Seasonic in my personal machines.

Depends on the series.

Seasonic Focus+ > Corsair RMx
Corsair RMx / TXM > Seasonic G

As said, this really depends on the series. But if it's the good quality series like Focus or RMx, both are very fine PSUs and you should chose the one you can get cheapest.

With a $10 difference in price, Op stands a good chance of looking at the Corsair CS550M Or the Seasonic 550RM G semi modular Gold units,according to pcp as the rest all fall into pretty much the same price brackets. If that's true, I'd go with the Seasonic G over the Corsair CSM. Of course this could also be local shop sales and might be a Corsair TXM vrs the Seasonic G, in which case I'd go with the Corsair.

Seasonic G / S12G / X / Focus+ / Prime gold are all gold units.

So are Corsair's CSM / TXM / RMx / RMi / AX

The RMx, X & Focus+ cost almost the same
RMi & Prime gold as well in some places
TXM, sometimes CSM, G and after rebate X are around the same price as well.

Without more information you can't say going for one over the other is the better way to go

So are Corsair's CSM / TXM / RMx / RMi / AX

RMi & Prime gold as well in some places
TXM, sometimes CSM, G and after rebate X are around the same price as well.

Without more information you can't say going for one over the other is the better way to go

Being a gold unit tells nothing about the quality. It only tells how efficient it is, and as the 80+ rating are not even tested by a 3rd. party commision it really tells nothing as manufactures can easily rate it higher than it is without getting into trouble.

They were trying to figure out which units OP was referring to, since OP mentioned semi-modular that narrows it down to TXM and G series.

I have had a corsair cx500 without troubles, but I read they're not great. So I would recommend the seasonic. As I believe they have better quality components.

That's what I thought.

Actually the Seasonic Focus 550W is the same within a buck of the G and is full modular.

So I would go with that over either of the other 2.

None are bad choices however.
