I just ordered an Evga gtx 1080 ftw2 with icx. Ive been doing more research and learning about it..and its confusing.

Evga claims they are now loaded with 11 gbps gddr5x. But I cant find thise details anywhere else online. The one I just ordered on newegg was $599 and came with Destiny 2 code and $20 mir.

It claims on there it is 10gbps gddr5x. But they dont even have a ftw2 that says 11gbps.

Question is..how do I tell.. Id really like to have that native bump of 11gbps..rather than be maxed out when the card arrives at 11... Because then I could hit 12.

So..when it arrives how will I know?

Speccy will tell you.

shows my PC's specs. You can see the VRAM amount within my card's info. I could then click on Graphics and see more info.

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ is another app that will show you the card's VRAM amount.

Click Start and type dxdiag click the app or tap enter on your keyboard. When dxdiag is displayed click on the display tab. That will show you.

You can see your VRAM usage with MSI AB

The only 1080 ti FTW2 I found runs at 10gbps, the FTW3 runs at 11gbps. Where did EVGA claim that the FTW2's memory runs at 11gbps?

You can tell what the stock memory speed is with software like GPU-Z. Go to the sensors tab after the GPU was under load with GPU-Z open, click the arrow next to memory clock, select 'show highest reading', multiply the result by 4.

https://www.evga.com/articles/01104/evga-geforce-gtx-1080-ftw2-sc2-11gbps/

I havent opened the box yet.. And I read something about offering a bios update..but I also read they changed the actual ram to 11gbps.

The icx cards ftw2 and sc2 offer the 11 gbps bios update on all..but says not all cards will be able to handle it (these are the 10gbps cards). But evga is sticking 11gbps native ram in now.

The card I orderd is just that..on order. 2-3 days it will be here.. I dont want to open it and install without knowing first bc the newer updated cards are the same price with the new 11gbps ram.

Any help is appreciated! Shed somelight on me here lol..Im so baffled.

Nvidia gave a boost to the 1080 a while back with slightly faster VRAM, 10Gb/s to 11Gb/s. Mostly because it's cheaper to just use one standard. It should say on the box which version you have.

I have a GTX 1080 FTW2 and it does have 11 Gbps ram, came that way.

Here is mine FTW2.
