My sister wants to get comcast, but doesn't want to pay to rent the modem/router, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a good Modem/router (both in one) that isnt to expensive but also inline with comcasts own modem/router, or better?

Thanks for any and all help!

Above all insure that the device you choose is on the approved list for Comcast devices available through HERE.

I would go with either an Arris SB6141 or Netgear CM400 from Amazon and a separate router, although some like a combo gateway unit.

Depending on her budget and devices, an AC1900 router is probably the best choice -- Netgear Nighthawk R7000 or ASUS RT-AC68. Anything beyond those is pretty much a scam, as they don't really give any significant advantages. If she needs cheaper and cannot wait until Black Friday, consider a dual band N TP-Link router.
