Hey, I know this thread has been posted like 15,000 times. I've never actually built a pc before. I have done research, and poked around other forums, just never made an account. I have a budget of around $1500 total, including peripherals. Open to any suggestions...

Thanks

Yeah, I have a micro center within drive distance, but good stuff will be gone quickly.

The closest Frys or MC are about 200 miles away. Amazon or Newegg easily trumps any "local store".

Which is why I asked the OP...."where".

Micro Center is the closest place to where I live. It's about 40 minutes away in the city so it's ok. The prices vary and they are out of stock if the Coffee Lake processors.

Some places might match online prices. I know if I go to BestBuy to get an SSD, I can show them a cheaper one on Amazon and they will match the price.

Usually, yes. But only if it is Sold and shipped by Amazon, and the exact same model number.
3rd party sellers on Amazon don't count.

I've never had anyone nit-pick when I show an associate, but that could vary from store-to-store. At any rate, I will never tell anyone to get all their hardware from just one place. It's really just a matter of finding where the deals are!
Although, one time I took advantage of a deal on Amazon and bought all my stuff from them at once.
